Candace + Reuben
As I try to write this it’s hard to gather the words to explain Candace & Reuben’s special day and the process leading up to it. The year 2020 has been one for the books. When C+R started planning their wedding a global pandemic couldn’t have been in their wildest dreams, like so many other 2020 couples. However, no matter how many times their plans changed, changed more, and changed again, they rolled with it. With the support of their family + friends they made it to their special day and it was truly more perfect than even they could’ve imagined.
Kurtz Orchards in Niagara-On-The-Lake was the most spectacular venue for their entirely outdoor event. From the getting ready, to the portrait time, ceremony in the pear orchard, cocktail hour in the garden, and then reception under the stars in the vineyard - everything was magical. There was so much emotion, intentionality, and heart put into every part of their day. From C’s custom dress with her brothers initials in it (which her and her mom saw completed for the first time that morning - the reaction is priceless), to the speech they gave honouring everyone in their lives, and the smoke bomb first dance including all the special people in their lives… it was truly a wedding to remember. “In such a chaotic year, you gave me as a bride one of the most priceless gifts. The ability to relive my wedding day through photos and see my family and closest friends together under the stars. Over the past 4 weeks I’ve been disappointed in myself because I forgot a lot of what our day entailed (a feeling I’m told is normal) and was hard on myself because I felt like i wasn’t “present”. However, looking back on these gorgeous portraits, I could see that I was wrong. I see myself smiling, together, in the moment, and laughing. Just pure joy. And even in the darkest of times, you were able to bring Reuben and I that youthful carefree joy again. Thank you so much for you work. It’s truly beautiful and encompasses who we are as a couple.
