Kelly + Tyler - New Years Eve Wedding
Kelly and Tyler met in high school and after a few years of seeing each other around the halls and sharing classes together, the two became friends and started dating. After 12 years together, they got engaged and began planning their wedding!
This wedding was one of the most unique ones I’ve been to. Kelly wanted a small, intimate wedding and Josh, well, wanted the opposite! So, instead of swinging one way or another, they decided to compromise. The couple had a beautiful, intimate ceremony and small dinner with their closest family and friends - about 50 guests. Tyler is an 8th grade teacher, and had his students write out marriage advice to the couple in a book. During the dinner, their guests read the written advice to the couple and it was truly one of the funniest things I’ve seen at a wedding.
After their dinner was over, we had about 20 minutes to spare before heading to the big reception. It was New Years Eve, so we snuck out in the snow, popped into a bar, had a beer, and enjoyed a few quieter moments before heading back. The room had been flipped and now, 120 guests would join the couple for their reception! During the reception, the couple listened to speeches, danced, and enjoyed having a big party with even more of their family and friends. This wedding really shows that you truly do not have to follow the “rules” of wedding timelines - it’s your big day, you can celebrate however you want!
