Andy & Cara

When Andy & Cara contacted me and shared a bit of their story I knew the special day they were asking me to capture would be one to remember. These two lovebirds have had quite the wild journey to get to this point. To get to capture their backyard Kitchener wedding was an absolute honour. Here’s a bit of their story!

Andy & Cara are both travel professionals and met on one of their trips. Despite being from two different continents they decided to meet up again throughout their travels. They met in Costa Rica, fell for each other in Hungary, and fell in love in Germany - all while continuing a long distance relationship. To say the very least there were a lot of happy airport reunions at Toronto Pearson Airport throughout the 2 years apart. The best one though - when Andy took the leap and moved to Toronto.

After a short time living together in Toronto they decided they wanted to make things official & eloped at Toronto City Hall November 2018. This was such a significant day for them because it proved the long distance was done, and also catapulted them into their next adventure - not just planning a wedding celebration but also planning a family!

While planning their wedding celebration for July, when both of their families would come together from across the world to celebrate their love story, they found out they were expecting a baby in November - and couldn’t have been more thrilled.

As we chatted on the phone about their celebration and their story, and also the fact that Cara was expecting I knew that this day would be so special in so many ways and instantly got excited to have the honour to capture it.

THEIR SPECIAL KITCHENER “WEDDING DAY” WAS PERFECT.

Cara got ready with her sisters, nieces, and Mom at their family home and Andy spent the morning with his parents. They came together for a first look - lots of happy tears - and sweet photos with their families (what was most important to them about this day).

Following their relaxing morning with their families, A + C opted for a first look in the forest. It was so beautiful.

Afterward, they had a “ceremony” (which was technically a vow renewal) which a special family friend of theirs “officiated”. Every word that was spoken was thought through by Andy & Cara and left everybody in attendance laughing and crying. The whole celebration took place in Cara’s parent’s backyard might I add which just added to the significance of it all.

Following lots of happy reunions and hugs they moved into the reception which of course included drinks from both Canada and the UK, as well as some fun toasts and heartfelt speeches.

My favourite speech however was Andy’s speech to his bride. Under the stars he shared that today (July 25, 2019) was the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon. With tear filled eyes he explained how significant that was, because while they lived in different continents they would often look at the moon at the same time and send “love” back and forth - sharing that they could see the same moon. From there (with not a dry eye in the place) he continued to explain his joy in celebrating his bride and also announced that they were expecting this year as well. The whole tent jumped up cheering - the emotion and joy in the place was so incredibly beautiful. I definitely shed a few tears behind the lens.
