Josh & Des

When Josh asked me to be a part of his Toronto proposal and capture it through photography I was so so honoured. Josh was one of my first friends in Ontario (cue tears - honestly) and for anyone who’s moved provinces alone you know finding real friends in your new home is an actual answer to prayers.

Josh & Des were “set up” by the same mutual friend who introduced Andrew and I.. she’s clearly on a roll. Josh planned the perfect proposal at one of their favourite cafes, Baddies, which he rented out for the night. Des had no idea what was coming and knew that Josh had a special date planned. It started with dinner and then they went to Baddies, where candles, music, and a bottle of wine was waiting. This was about the same time I snuck in the back door (late night, in Toronto, in a back alley with lots of doors, and no idea where you’re going - this was hilarious) and stuck my camera through the small door to grab some of the “sneaky dancing shots”. We had worked it out so I knew he would propose during a certain song (a gorgeous song that was also the first dance at their wedding might I add) and this was the song!! They danced, sang, smiled, and Josh got down on one knee.. THE moment! There were happy tears, laughs, hugs, and cuddles, and it was the sweetest thing ever.

Although the lighting was dim and moody, and flash was a no go since I was hiding and it would have ruined the surprise, the photos are everything we imaged. Perfectly clear and sharp and well lit - no, but real, raw, emotional, and true to the moment - yes!

If you’re planning a proposal why not have it captured? It’s so fun being able to look back on those moments together. Check out how it happened for Josh & Des through the images below.
